Allan Drewlo Awarded Jim MacKinnon Community Builder Award
On February 10, Nathan Moniz, a business representative for Local 1059 and a member of the United Way Elgin Middlesex Campaign Cabinet, and Jennepher Cahill, director of development for UW-EM, were honoured to award Allan Drewlo with the Jim MacKinnon Community Builder Award.
The award was named after Jim MacKinnon, a former business manager for Local 1059, it establishes in the spirit of Jim's enduring legacy, enthusiasm, and activism. The Jim MacKinnon Community Builder Award honours activists in the community who likewise exhibit these qualities and who provide opportunity and hope for everyone whose life they have a positive impact on.
Allan continues to invest in his community and is literally - a community builder. He also acknowledges the value and excellence of unionised work. Via Riverside Concrete Forming and The Ironstone Building Company, Allan has been directly employing LiUNA Local 1059 members for many years. He also uses subcontractors who use union members for numerous construction projects in and around the London area.
